Early-stage technology companies often lack access to the capital and expertise that can enable them to develop sound technology, build viable products and grow their business.  DSTA Fusion Grants will help to bridge this gap by assisting with product development and market assessment, and therefore help improve the success rate of these companies.

The grants, which will range from $10,000 to $50,000 per company, will lead to the development or refinement of a product with clear commercial potential.  They will assist with one or more of the following areas: 

• Technical feasibility demonstration
• Proof-of-concept
• Prototype development
• Field trials
• Market analysis
• Intellectual property protection

To begin to address the lack of adequate seed funding in the state, a grant fund for technology validation will be established for companies that participate at DSTA.  Companies will also be put through a process that prepares them to raise capital and then introduces them to sources of seed funding.  The DSTA also focuses on preparing companies to raise capital through an organized process.  Money granted to client companies must be used in accordance with the DSTA mission statement.  Grants must be used to develop products or businesses related to defense technology.
