Fayetteville - Defense industry, entrepreneurs, military officials and government leaders will gather in Fayetteville today to discuss the importance of technology development to jobs in North Carolina.
The Defense, Security & Technology Accelerator, a new business incubator in Fayetteville, will host the event at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum. The DSTA is a new center focused on helping businesses and entrepreneurs develop and commercialize technology for military and civilian use.
Among the topics to be discussed is the upcoming relocation of U.S. Forces Command and the U.S. Army Reserve Command to Fort Bragg and what those moves could mean for job growth in the state.
"Our goal is to transform the state into one of our nation's leading defense and security clusters," Scott Perry, director of the DSTA and a retired Special Forces soldier, said. "Some of the key decision-makers involved in this move will give conference participants a first-hand perspective on the significant economic opportunities ahead."
The DSTA, which opened in November, already has numerous clients, created 48 jobs, and has clients working on more than 20 contracts.
