FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DSTA ACCEPTS NEW CLIENT: ARCHANGEL ARMOR, LLC
Fayetteville, N.C. (March 20, 2009)- The Defense and Security Technology Accelerator (DSTA), a business accelerator that assists entrepreneurs with the rapid development of dual-use defense and security technology solutions, announced today that Archangel Armor, LLC has been accepted as a client company and recently moved into an office at the 15,000 sq. ft. DSTA facility in downtown Fayetteville.
Archangel Armor, LLC is a privately owned disabled veteran owned small business which develops innovative personal protective systems for the warfighter. The center piece of Archangel’s line is the Internal Frame Load Bearing Armor (IFLBA). This design provides for better air circulation and helps to eliminate injuries from back face deformation. Furthermore, the design utilizes life support capable Cobra buckles to bear the weight of the armor and any plates or packs attached to the frame. According to the developer, Paul Carter, Archangel is currently working on a single pull cut away system that will activate all of the buckles simultaneously and will simplify reassembly to 20 seconds. The added bonus of this system is that its efficiency is translated into healthier warfighters. In particular, the IFLBA is designed to mitigate the types of chronic back and joint injuries sustained by wearers of current armor systems.
Archangel is just one of several client companies within the DSTA program. As a business accelerator, DSTA assists entrepreneurs and innovators with developing new business and dual-use technologies in a rapid (8-18 month) timeline. The focus is on both military and commercial needs in the areas of defense, security and intelligence. DSTA’s center of attention is on fostering collaborative efforts, leveraging regional strengths and building connections between the Fayetteville area, Research Triangle Park and other centers of innovation throughout the state of North Carolina. DSTA brings together the military, entrepreneurs, universities, innovators and technology companies to generate and share ideas, understand needs and develop technology solutions.
