Fayetteville, N.C. (October  29, 2009)- The Defense and Security Technology Accelerator (DSTA), a thought leader in business acceleration that assists entrepreneurs with the rapid development of dual-use defense and security technology solutions, announced  today that GigaBeam has joined the DSTA program and has been accepted as a client company.

GigaBeam offers fixed wireless communication equipment as well as design and implementation services of fixed wireless networks using GigaBeam products.  They joined the DSTA program to “further their message to the government audience,” said Jay Lawrence, Chief Executive Officer of GigaBeam Corporation.  “The government is one of GigaBeam’s most important customers and represents our largest customer in the US.  We have a great deal to offer and are pleased to be working with DSTA and are grateful for the resources and professional expertise they bring to the table.”

GigaBeam’s flagship product, the Gi-CORE, provides Gigabit Ethernet payloads, while there portfolio offers a wide range of products.  GigaBeam’s product portfolio includes products from 10Mbps to 1000Mbps.  These products include point-to-point, point-to-multi-point, mesh, and Wi-MAX configurations.  GigaBeam’s solutions have been deployed in over 20 countries worldwide. Current GigaBeam users include large enterprises such as Google, NASA and the DoD, universities, medical centers, banks, various departments and ministries of defense, and other government agencies globally. GigaBeam is in the unique position to deliver a complete and turn-key wireless network; designed and implemented in multiple layers, to provide flexible service delivery options, ensure the infrastructure can be scaled to meet future bandwidth demands, and to facilitate a broad range of application requirements, including mobile broadband Internet service.

Currently, GigaBeam is providing product and services to different cities and governments.  By joining the DSTA program, assistance will be made in helping GigaBeam break into the military and Special Forces,” said Randy McLean, Business Developer, DSTA.  Part of GigaBeam’s appeal to the military relies on the fact that they are one of the few companies that can provide gig wireless connectivity at longer distances, up to seven miles in some parts of the world depending on the climate.
